UNIONMADE SHETLAND

Photography: Andrew Paynter

Unionmade was well-known for its seasonal collaborations that would often sell out within hours. I worked with some of the best small designers and factories in the industry to create clothing and accessories that were unique and highly sought after.  For the Shetland collection (F/W 2013), I worked with Golden Bear, Crescent Down Works, Harley of Scotland and The New England Shirt Company to produce a full line of outerwear, sweaters, and accessories. As always, quality and origin of the products were top of mind. For the line, I used Shetland wool from Harris Tweed and Abraham Moon.  For the creative, I partnered with photographer Andrew Paynter.  Andrew who is known for his work on film and for the rich depth he captures in his photographs.  We chose locations in downtown San Francisco to shoot the collection.  I thought the brutalist cement would take a fabric like Shetland wool, which is associated with the countryside, and show it in a modern way that felt unexpected.
